Covering of 1500 m2 in triple layer ETFE cushions printed to protect the Teatro della Cava del Sole, Matera. The theater is the most important venue in the framework of the redevelopment of the area of the Matera as European Capital of Culture 2019. All information on the event can be found here: https: //www.matera -basilicata2019.it The building, designed by the architect Tonio Acito and engineered by the Mosae studio, is composed of 5 pitches oriented in different ways able cover a multifunctional area of over 1500 square meters. The cover, light and transparent, is consists of 68 cushions of different shapes. Transparency is modulated by 2 different print patterns which, when combined, spread the light homogeneously in the spaces below.
The roof cover, from the first sketch to its complete realization, required 5 months of work: 6 weeks were dedicated to the assembly on site.
