Info: Lombardy on the roof of the world with the Everest pyramid workshop shell on display in Milan for Fuorisalone 2024
On the occasion of this year’s Milan Design Week, from 16 to 21 April, Maco Technology is exhibiting the structure that will expand the Pyramid laboratory located on the Nepalese side of Mount Everest. This new pyramid, measuring 17.5×17.x and 11.5 metres high, will clad and protect the existing glass pyramid with an ETFE envelope specially designed to withstand the most extreme weather conditions.
The project was born in 1990 from a dream of Ardito Desio and Agostino Da Polenza to offer the international scientific community the opportunity to study the environment, climate, human physiology, geology and state-of-the-art technology in an emblematic protected mountain region.
The structure exhibited at the Fuorisalone will be completed with the ETFE enclosure by 2024 and shipped to be reassembled at Everest base camp at 5050 metres above sea level.
