ETFE
Data: April 2020Info: Partition and protective panels to reduce the spread of COVID-19
In collaboration with Guarniflon spa – PATI division, ETFE partition panels can be manufactured for the purpose of compartmentalising spaces in order to contain and limit the spread of COVID-19.
ETFE is a high-performance material used in architecture for the construction of large roofs and facades, for example in stadiums or infrastructure.
Thanks to the lightness and flexibility of ETFE FILM, products can be manufactured in kits and shipped to minimise costs by cutting transport and assembly costs.
There are three types of elements available:
- screens designed to be hung, with a maximum height of 1550 mm and customisable length
- table or counter screens measuring 1200×800
- Self-supporting room dividers measuring 2000×750 or 2000×1500
Why use ETFE instead of other less expensive plastics available on the market?
- The system is sold in kits and the sheet is rolled up to take up minimal space. This saves on transport costs and speeds up deployment;
- Compared to any other transparent plastic film, ETFE maintains high transparency values for longer, even after the use of detergents and sanitising products;
- The material can be stretched, unlike other films (made of PVC) which relax over time, stretching and losing stability and beauty over time;
- The film can be sterilised with steam at 100°C, which is not possible with most plastic films;
- ETFE can be printed for privacy and security needs in hospitals, workplaces and restaurants. The ability to print on surfaces also offers opportunities for advertising and marketing campaigns;
- Lightness: when developing the product, we considered ease of installation and handling in bars and restaurants: ETFE weighs approximately 100 g per square metre. The largest panel weighs 4 kg, compared to 15 kg if it were made of polycarbonate or methacrylate;
- Environmental impact: all PPE used to combat the virus has an environmental impact in terms of pollution and disposal costs. ETFE is 100% recyclable. The aluminium used in the frame is also recyclable. We are committed to collecting all panels at the end of their life cycle in order to recycle the material used in the fight against the virus.
- Last but not least, the modular geometry and the fact that the object can be dismantled when necessary and once the emergency is over offer an additional solution for customers who are preparing to adopt strategies to combat the current health crisis.
